Fry protection, rearing support and temporary separation

AQUAEL breeding boxes offer three uses. A single accessory combines protection, rearing and separation.

The internal horizontal divider creates separate spaces for the female and her fry within the main aquarium. The female is placed in the upper compartment of the breeding box, while the newborn fry move into the lower compartment. This separates the fry and provides the female with a quiet place to give birth. The protection system limits contact between newborn fry and adult fish, while the internal divider keeps the female apart from her young. A removable vertical divider in the upper compartment also allows two females to be housed in separate sections.
Once the female has been removed, the breeding box can be used as a nursery for young fish. The horizontal divider can then be taken out, allowing the fry to use the entire space. The young fish can grow until they are ready to be safely released into the aquarium.
The breeding box can also be used to temporarily separate an individual fish.

Secure positioning in the aquarium

Position the breeding box near the top of the aquarium, with the lid slightly above the water surface. Two suction cups secure the box to the aquarium glass and keep it stable in the chosen position. This flexible mounting method allows the position of the breeding box to be adapted to the aquarium layout and daily maintenance needs.

Aeration and water circulation

A separate air pump can be connected to the breeding box to support water movement and oxygenation within the enclosed space. The aeration tube can be attached in two positions – on the side or at the bottom of the breeding box – depending on the aquarist’s needs or preferences.

A spray bar in the upper part of the box disperses the outgoing water, supporting circulation inside the breeding box and improving aeration.

Slots across the outer walls allow water to flow freely through the breeding box. Their special design also prevents fry from escaping into the main aquarium.

Easy observation of fish and fry

The breeding boxes are made of transparent plastic. This allows fish and invertebrates to be observed and their needs to be addressed without removing them from the box. It makes daily care easier and helps the aquarist monitor their behaviour during feeding and breeding.

Three sizes – the same functionality

Model S is the most compact, M provides more space, and L is the largest breeding box in the range. Each model features a fry protection system, an internal divider, convenient mounting and an air pump connection option.
