Two large companies from the pet industry in Poland and the Czech Republic are strengthening their cooperation. Under the agreement, the Aquael Zoo chain will gain 82 new stores, making Aquael the second largest retailer of pet products in Poland.
Aquael, a Polish company with over 40 years of tradition in manufacturing and retail, and the Plaček Group, a leading retail operator in the pet industry in Central and Eastern Europe, have signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
The Plaček Group operates over 400 retail stores under the Super zoo, Dino zoo, and Kakadu zoo brands, and is also involved in wholesale and export. The group has a strong market position in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Latvia.
The agreement was signed on August 25, 2025. Under this agreement, both groups will significantly strengthen their cooperation. The Plaček Group will increase its purchases of Aquael products, and Aquael will expand its offering by purchasing strong pet food brands belonging to the Plaček Group, such as Ontario, Elbeville, Prospera Plus, and Rasco Premium for the Aquael Zoo retail chain. Both companies have a decades-long and very fruitful history of cooperation.
As part of the agreement, 82 Kakadu stores in Poland will be transferred to Aquael. The Plaček Group will continue to operate in Poland as a retailer under its flagship Super Zoo concept, focusing exclusively on large-format stores with an area of 500-1000 m² in large cities.

Together, we will operate a network of over 120 stores on the Polish market, making us the second-largest retailer of pet products in our country. The strategic agreement will also strengthen the position of our leading brands (Aquael and Comfy Appetit) in the Czech and Slovak markets by increasing our presence in the Super Zoo chain.”
Dušan Plaček, owner of the Plaček Group, added: “We are very pleased with this cooperation. Part of our long-term strategy is to replace some of our imports from the Far East with products manufactured in the European Union and to further expand our core Super Zoo concept. Aquael is the ideal partner to help us achieve this goal.”
These actions will significantly strengthen the market position of both companies and create new opportunities for growth in the dynamic pet products industry. Customers will also benefit from the closer cooperation between the companies thanks to a more diverse product range.
